“I danced in the morning when the world was begun” inspired this painting. It is also called the Lord of the Dance. I just loved the tune and the words , and the metaphor of the dance. I love to dance everywhere .I never realised that it written by Sydney Bertram Carter an English poet , or that it is sung to the American Shaker song ” Simple Gifts”. The words to that song resonate .
Tis the gift to be simple, tis the gift to be free
tis the gift to come down to where we ought to be
and when we find ourselves in the place just right
T’will be in the valley of love and delight
When the true simplicity is gained, to bow and to bend
we shan’t be ashamed, to turn, turn will be our delight,
Till by turning, turning we come’ round right
