It started with the most beautiful bunch of sweetpeas, and I just had to paint them, then I added the flowers in the garden. The paint I had dripped onto the empty sheet of paper morphed into the little girl in the kimono, the leopard and the beautiful and enigmatic Geisha. The roses bloomed in the background and I thought of the dulcet tones of Dame Sarah Conolly, singing the Faure song Paradis, which gave me the painting’s title. This is just one of the truly magical songs by Faure on Signum Records wonderful CD of Faure songs, a treat to myself. No painting is complete without the birds.
